Commissioned from a photograph of a herd of bison at Yellowstone, only the general shape and color of the subject of choice was visible. To pin down the detail and facial expression, I studied videos and photographs of other bison as a source of inspiration. The goal was to capture the size of this creature in comparison to the docile manner in which he feeds. The end result is the face of a friendly giant with a pettable furry coat, in a sea of delicious grass.
